Justin Trudeau raised eyebrows when he showed up solo to a Katy Perry concert this week.
Multiple fan videos captured Trudeau watching Perry’s Lifetimes Tour concert, seemingly alone, at Bell Centre in Montreal on July 30.
In one clip, Trudeau – wearing a casual black T-shirt, a difference from the suits of his decadelong tenure as the 23rd prime minister of Canada – held onto a railing while watching Perry solo. In another, Trudeau danced along to “Teenage Dream,” the 13-time Grammy nominee’s hit 2010 song.
USA TODAY has reached out to reps for Trudeau and Perry for comment. The Lifetimes concert tour began in Mexico City in April and is scheduled to end in December. The tour supports her latest album “143,” which received mixed reviews from critics, though the tour has been a commercial success for Perry.
Some fans are sparking romance rumors that first heated up when People and Page Six reported this week that Trudeau and the American singer were spotted on a walk and shared a surprising dinner at Le Violin, according to The New York Times, although there is no indication that it was a date.
“We can’t say for certain it was a date, but they were in great spirits,” restaurant co-owner and co-executive chef Danny Smiles told the Times.
Orlando Bloom, Katy Perry breakup: Couple to focus on co-parenting daughter Daisy
Perry announced her split in early July from ex-partner and actor Orlando Bloom, with whom she shares 4-year-old daughter Daisy. Representatives for Perry and Bloom, who had been engaged for six years, confirmed the couple’s separation in a statement to USA TODAY on July 3.
“Due to the abundance of recent interest and conversation surrounding Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry’s relationship, representatives have confirmed that Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting,” the statement read.

“They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is — and always will be — raising their daughter with love, stability, and mutual respect,” the statement from their representatives continued. Before she cozied up to Bloom, Perry was married to British comedian Russell Brand, but the couple divorced in 2012. She also previously dated musician John Mayer.
Trudeau announced in early January that he would resign from his post. He had served as prime minister since 2015 and led the country’s Liberal Party since 2013. In 2023, Trudeau split from his wife and the mother of his three children, Sophie Gregoire, whom he married in May 2005.
