Jessica Biel and Elizabeth Banks are sisters with a twisted past who find themselves at the center of a scandal in The Better Sister.
The Prime Video limited series, which is based on Alafair Burke’s bestselling book of the same name, sees the two powerhouse actresses pitted against each other when their shared husband — Banks’ ex and Biel’s current partner — winds up murdered.
As the whodunnit unfolds, the messy history Chloe (Biel) and Nicky (Banks) share with their dead husband Adam (Corey Stoll) makes them both look like suspects — but so, too, does their son Ethan (Maxwell Acee Donovan).

In the trailer for the eight-episode series, which dropped on April 30, Chloe comes home to her husband lying in a pool of his own blood, leaving two Hamptons detectives (Kim Dickens and Bobby Naderi) with a major case on their hands.
“My husband has been murdered and my sister is here and though I am feeling anxiety about this, I release it,” Chloe tells herself in the mirror while going through the motions of what looks like an anxiety coping mechanism as the trailer begins.
The sisters’ complicated past makes everything harder, as the truth about Ethan — Nicky and Adam’s son, who Chloe has raised with Adam amid her sister’s addiction issues — and their messy family dynamic is revealed.
As Detective Guidry (Dickens) puts it, bluntly, to Chloe: “What a crazy turn — the world knowing you stole your sister’s life.”

When Ethan ends up on the stand, accused of murdering Adam, everything escalates even more.
“Whatever’s happened between you two in the past, Ethan is in real trouble now,” attorney Michelle Sanders (Gloria Reuben) tells Nicky and Chloe in the trailer, as their son goes on trial for the murder of his father. “You wanna protect him? Tell me everything.”
