Jesse Metcalfe has no problem talking about his time with Scheana Shay.
The Vanderpump Rules alum revealed in her memoir, My Good Side, that she and the actor dated briefly in 2007. And while that was news to most people, Metcalfe, 46, wasn’t shy when asked about their relationship.
On the July 16 episode of Tori Spelling’s podcast, misSPELLING, she brought up the revelation from Shay’s book, to which Metcalfe said, “I know. She spoke highly of me, which was nice.”
Metcalfe then reflected on his time with Shay, which he said was “pretty brief,” but he had nothing but nice things to say.
After initially thinking that Spelling was “breaking that news” to his girlfriend, Helene Immel, who was listening to the podcast recording, Metcalfe admitted to his past with Shay, 40, “I tried to keep that from her.”

Their romance was a “long time ago, 20 years ago,” the John Tucker Must Die star said.
“We were dating,” he confirmed. “I mean, overall, it was pretty brief, but we were seeing each other on a regular basis.”
He also revealed that the pair “met through a mutual friend who happened to be her boss.”
“So her boss and I went to the same gym. And he had mentioned that she thought I was handsome, and we ended up going out, and the rest is history,” the actor said.
In her book, Shay recalled some of the early days of her romance with Metcalfe, whom she had a crush on from his projects.
In My Good Side, the reality star described Metcalfe as “the sexy gardener from Desperate Housewives” and admitted to crushing on him after watching John Tucker Must Die.
“I recall thinking what a dream it would be to date him — which I did, beginning in early 2007. Jesse was an awesome guy,” she wrote.

Their relationship began after Metcalfe left rehab, which he entered in March 2007 to “deal with alcohol issues,” his rep said at the time.
“The first date he took me on post-rehab was the Cloverfield red carpet movie premiere. I then spent my twenty-second birthday at dinner with him, and I vividly remember sticking to water and Red Bull all night as a way of supporting his sobriety,” Shay wrote.

The “Good as Gold” singer said that she and the actor “had a great time together” as she recalled some of the sweet romantic gestures he did for her.
“We would order in dinner with his parents at his house, and — when we were alone — he would play the guitar and serenade me with songs like ‘Hey There Delilah.’ It felt like I was living a real-life fantasy with this guy I’d watched on TV and in movies for years.”

The pair “eventually we grew apart” and things “faded out” in the summer of 2008, at which point Shay “fell right back into regularly hanging with Eddie” Cibrian, who was married to Brandi Glanville at the time, but with whom she had a “serious” relationship.
