The same day an executive producer on the new series announced that Sonequa Martin-Green was cast to play his on-screen police partner in the new series, McCarthy shared an Instagram post to gush over her hubby’s new project.
“Congrats to my husband @donniewahlberg for this amazing opportunity to bring more joy to so many people who watch you,” McCarthy, 52, wrote alongside a screenshot from an article about Wahlberg’s new show.
Boston Blue was greenlit earlier this year following the 2024 cancellation of Blue Bloods, which broke fans hearts.
McCarthy continued her post on Wednesday by writing, “Boston Blue is no doubt going to shine with your leadership and big giant heart. So proud of you, mister. 💙”

Wahlberg, 55, responded to his wife’s post with a simple red heart emoji in the comments.
Wahlberg gave fans an update on the show’s casting during a CBS press briefing in Los Angeles on Wednesday, where he and Martin-Green personally delivered the news that the Star Trek: Discovery actress would be playing Lena Peters, partner to Wahlberg’s character Danny Reagan, on the upcoming series.
During the briefing, Wahlberg said Martin-Green was “not the first choice” but “the only choice” for the role, according to Variety.
