Jenna Bush Hager’s Kids Have the Most Dramatic Reaction to Her New Bob Haircut

Jenna Bush Hager looked ready for a stay at the White Lotus hotel as she debuted her new sleek collarbone-length bob on the Today Show on Tuesday. Just hours earlier, the Jenna & Friends star was still sporting her signature chest-length balayage waves when she enlisted the help of hairstylist to the stars Chris McMillan and Leslie Bibb to recreate the star’s viral earlobe-length bob from The White Lotus’s latest season.

Before the bob’s triumphant debut on live television on Tuesday, Bush Hager revealed that she took her new hairstyle home to show her kids the day before—and they had the most priceless reaction to their mom’s new look. The television personality—who shares daughters Mila, 12, Poppy, 9, and son Hal, 5, with husband Henry Hager—revealed her new haircut was initially met with confusion and then a bit of a meltdown.

“I will say, I walked in to show my children and you just…I videoed it,” Bush Hager admitted to Bibb during their June 17 appearance. She then played the video and let it speak for itself, explaining, “I think they thought they were getting a puppy.”

In the video, Bush Hager’s kids could be heard excitedly saying, “What is it?” and walking into the room. When they saw their mom with her new bold chop, they stopped in their tracks and began screaming in unison.

“What are you doing?” Poppy screamed. “Why would you do that?” Looking dismayed, she ran away and jumped into a chair. Mila chimed in, telling Bush Hager, “I don’t like it.” Hal agreed, echoing his sister, “I don’t like it.” The downcast trio then walked away while making crying sounds.

“Are those real?” a shocked Bibb asked Bush Hager when the clip came to an end. “Your children are monsters. They’re monsters. They started crying.”

Chuckling, the longtime TV host responded, “I know. It was sort of fake crying, I mean that’s our love language.”

While Bush Hager’s children might not be the biggest fans of her new hairstyle, she revealed on Monday that she’d been wanting to recreate Bibb’s “c*nty little bob” with the help of the hairstylist behind the viral look. McMillan, who’s also responsible for Jennifer Aniston’s iconic “The Rachel” cut, gave her a variation on the White Lotus look while snipping her hair on live television.
