Tim Burton is opening up about his experience working with Lady Gaga.

During a Q&A session at Italy’s Giffoni Film Festival earlier on Friday, the legendary filmmaker spoke about collaborating with the pop icon on the upcoming season of Wednesday, as well as teased he was working on “something else” with her.

The “Abracadabra” singer is set to appear in Season 2 of Burton’s hit Netflix TV series Wednesday, starring Jenna Ortega. Gaga will be playing Rosaline Rotwood, a Nevermore teacher who crosses paths with Wednesday Addams (Ortega).

Known for his work that often blends fantasy and horror, the 66-year-old filmmaker rose to prominence with his movies such as Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands and the Batman (1989). His unique storytelling and visual flair have made him a fan favorite, with other successes including The Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride, Big Fish and Alice in Wonderland.

Though Lady Gaga is mostly known as a singer, she has multiple acting credits under her belt. She made her TV debut in American Horror Story: Hotel, winning a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Limited Series or Television Movie, as well as earned critical acclaim for her lead role in the 2018 film A Star is Born, which garnered her an Oscar nomination for Best Actress. She later starred in House of Gucci alongside Adam Driver and Joker: Folie à Deux, further proving her versatility on screen. Currently, the artist is on her eighth concert tour The Mayhem Ball, in support of her 2025 album, Mayhem.

“I’m not a musician, I’m not a music person, but she’s a real artist and that was very inspiring to me,” Burton concluded.

Fans can stream the first part of Season 2 of Wednesday on Netflix starting on August 6.
