Adam Sandler and wife Jackie Sandler’s marriage is stronger than ever after 22 years.
The longtime couple tied the knot in 2003 after first meeting on the set of his 1999 comedy Big Daddy. They’ve been tight-knit ever since, keeping their personal life mostly private while turning many of their film projects into family affairs.
“They still have great chemistry. They really enjoy each other’s company,” a source tells PEOPLE.
The insider says Adam, 58, and Jackie, 50, “keep a tight social circle with longtime friends,” and they like to have their quality time together remain low-key: “Their idea of a perfect night is dinner with friends or a movie night at home.”

In 2006, the pair became parents when their daughter Sadie was born. Now 19, Sadie has a role in Happy Gilmore 2, Adam’s latest Netflix hit, as does her sister, 16-year-old Sunny. Adam’s daughters often have roles in his productions, and Jackie also has a part in the Happy Gilmore sequel, as a ballet instructor.
“Ever since the girls were born, Jackie has always said how lucky she feels and what a great dad Adam is,” says the source. “Their marriage is very special.”
Adam’s onscreen wife in Happy Gilmore 2, Julie Bowen, recently commended the actor and his family in an interview alongside her costar. “Jackie and those kids are the nicest people,” Bowen, 55, who has three sons, said in an IMDb interview. “They’re very sweet tempered, like their mother. … You raised them right. You did a great job.”

While at the premiere of the new golf comedy, Adam told Entertainment Tonight about how he has changed since making the first film, which hit theaters in 1996. He said, “I got kids. I got a wife that knows me forever, and we click and we have a nice love affair going on. That’s where I’m at right now. I’m smarter in some ways and probably dumber in others.”
At the same red carpet event, Adam told PEOPLE about his onscreen rapport with Jackie, saying, “My wife and I have a nice— when we make eye contact, we lock in, so we use that when we’re acting. Sometimes it looks a little weird that we’re falling in love and it doesn’t make sense to our characters. But we do have a nice attraction for each other.”
He also added that his “heart feels good” to have his kids by his side throughout the process. “You’re pulling for them while you’re working with them. … My kids couldn’t be prouder of whatever they’re working and going after whatever they want. I’m just always pulling for them, like every parent.”
In 2022, Adam joked to AARP The Magazine that “Nobody wants to hear about Adam Sandler’s secret to marriage,” but he still offered one piece of insight into their now-22-year union: “I guess here’s the secret: Jackie and I like spending time with each other. We try to make each other laugh, try to listen, try to include each other, try to support each other.”

“We try our best — that’s all,” he continued at the time. “And we don’t ever think of not being together. We always talk about our future together.”
