Everybody has been waiting for Henry Cavill’s next big role, but what if we told you his best film was available to stream right now on Netflix? Most people became familiar with the actor thanks to his solid work as Superman, the headlining hero of the failed DCEU. But in The Man From U.N.C.L.E., this handsome leading man trades in his red tights for the suit and tie of an ultra-suave CIA agent.

Henry Cavill’s Best Movie On Netflix

This Henry Cavill spy adventure now streaming on Netflix is a big-screen adaptation of the 1964 television show of the same name. The plot involves his super-spy teaming up with a KGB agent in order to stop some Nazi-loving baddies from building their own nuclear bomb. However, the Cold War-era tension between these two may ultimately prove just as dangerous as the horrific weapon their foes are trying to assemble.

Henry Cavill (best known for Man of Steel and The Witcher TV show) leads The Man From U.N.C.L.E., and he lends this Netflix spy romp his own brand of particularly chiseled style. He is joined by Armie Hammer, who is best known for Call Me By Your Name and The Social Network. Rounding out the cast is Elizabeth Debicki (best known to genre fans for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and MaXXXine) and Hugh Grant (best known to romantics for Love Actually and About a Boy).

Before Henry Cavill’s spy thriller landed on Netflix, it left movie theaters shaken but not very stirred: against a budget of $75–84 million, the film earned $110 million. This modest profit wasn’t enough for Warner Bros to greenlight a sequel, but back in 2017, Man From U.N.C.L.E. co-screenwriter Lionel Wigram said that he was working on a sequel and that Henry Cavill had expressed interest in returning to his role. Eight years later and it seems like that attempted sequel is dead in the water, but fans and critics alike would certainly love for Cavill to reprise his role as a charming spy.

While The Man From U.N.C.L.E. ended up being a box office bomb, it fared far better with critics: the film has a 68 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, making it officially “fresh.” In general, critics praised the film’s charismatic actors and ambitious set pieces, all of which helped to give it a style of its very own. Notably, the film has an audience score of 73 percent, which means general moviegoers were even more enamored of Henry Cavill’s superspy performance than the critics were.

If you were on the fence about streaming this Henry Cavill hidden classic on Netflix because it was a box office bomb, the film’s high Rotten Tomatoes ratings (among critics and audiences alike, no less) should convince you that it’s worth a watch. It’s actually a fairly solid film that simply flew under the radar at the box office, but it has steadily built up a cult following as new fans discover it each year. This is your chance to see what the buzz is about while experiencing what is by far Henry Cavill’s best film.

Will you find The Man From U.N.C.L.E. as thrilling as we did, or would you rather ditch this Henry Cavill classic on Netflix in favor of a more traditional film? You won’t know until you hit the “play” button and experience this movie for yourself. And if you’re a major Cavill fan, just think: this movie might be the closest thing to seeing the actor suit up as James Bond, the world’s most famous superspy.
