Halle Berry continues to serve look after look in Cannes despite an updated dress code surrounding the city’s film festival.
On May 14, the actress made a glam fashion statement at the Mission: Impossible — The Final Reckoning premiere wearing a look that was nothing short of head-turning.
Berry, 58, commanded the carpet in a black and pink Celia Kritharioti confection featuring a bulbous high-low skirt and a decent-size train at the back.

It’s not confirmed by the festival if she actually overstepped its red carpet protocol, which was updated to prohibit “voluminous outfits, in particular those with a large train, that hinder the proper flow of traffic of guests and complicate seating in the theater.”
However, it does leave room for questions on what the festival organizers define as “voluminous.” In addition to Berry, other attendees, including Heidi Klum and Irina Shayk have graced the Grand Théâtre Lumière in arguably sizable gowns.
Prior to the festival’s kickoff on May 13, Berry told Variety that she had an “amazing dress by [Gaurav] Gupta” that she had to put aside from the opening ceremony because it had “too big of a train.”
“I’m not going to break the rules. The nudity part is also probably a good rule,” she added. Nudity was also banned, per an official FAQ website for the event, which stated that “welcoming teams will be obligated to prohibit red carpet access to anyone not respecting these rules.”

78th Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony
Berry became a jury member of the 78th installment of the festival this year, hence why she’s amped up the looks this week. On day one, she wore a black and white striped A-line dress from the Jacquemus Spring 2025 collection. For a more casual photocall, she went for what looked like a bouclé skirt set and slingback heels.
Before descending on Cannes, Berry had quite the moment at the 2025 Met Gala in New York.
In honor of the “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” theme and “Tailored for You” dress code, she worked with designer LaQuan Smith on a sequin gown with sheer strategically placed panels. The entire look was made by Smith using Samsung Galaxy’s AI Atelier.

“For me, it’s always about pushing the boundaries with fashion and technology. The AI feature is such a great tool for me to explore futuristic concepts on a digital scale,” Smith told PEOPLE of working with the brand on creating Berry’s naked look.
According to Vogue, Berry’s Cartier High Jewelry had mega carat count (her Tsagaan snow leopard necklace, which featured over 31 carats of diamonds) and took over 1,000 hours to make altogether.
