Good Morning America announced a major shakeup marking the end of an era, as the beloved ABC morning show is leaving its Times Square Studios for a new location.

On Monday, June 9, GMA kicked off its last week in Times Square after 26 years of calling the iconic space its home.

In honor of closing this chapter in GMA‘s history, its stars reflected on their first days at the studio. The show will move to downtown New York City in Hudson Square.

“It was so long ago that I can’t even imagine what it must have been,” co-anchor George Stephanopoulos, 64, said of his first day on the job in 2009.

Elsewhere in his reflection on GMA, Stephanopoulos recalled, “One of my first interviews was with David Axelrod, who was working in the White House at the time with President [Barack] Obama. They sent me a big alarm clock for my first day.”

Michael Strahan, 53, also shared his memories of joining GMA‘s Times Square Studios as a substitute co-anchor in 2013 before coming on full-time in 2016.

“The bright lights, the personality, the energy, how intimidated I was when I walked through the door,” the former NFL player detailed. “A lot of thoughts were going through my mind.”

Additionally, Chief Meteorologist Ginger Zee, 44—who joined GMA Weekend in 2011 before moving to the weekday show in 2023—declared, “My first time in Times Square, coming to this studio, was magical. I mean, truly. I pulled up at the stoplight on 44th, I just remember looking up and thinking, ‘This cannot be my life.'”
