Former Why Don’t We member Daniel Seavey has made the tough call to postpone a run of shows on his current tour in order to focus on his health.
On Tuesday, May 13, the 26-year-old singer — who is in the middle of his Second Wind tour — shared the unfortunate news in a lengthy message to fans on social media.
Calling the post “the hardest announcement I’ve ever had to make,” the “Gateway Drug” artist explained that he “no choice but to postpone the rest of my shows in Europe” due to a severe vocal cord injury. The concerts affected this week include Dublin, London, and Manchester.
“Even though this is the absolute last thing I’d ever want to do, it is physically impossible for me to perform right now,” he wrote. “My doctors made it clear that my vocal cords are completely unusable right now, and that any attempt at forcing them to work will result in permanent and irreversible damage.”

Seavey is “absolutely devastated to end up in this situation,” he continued, profusely apologizing to “every single one of you I am letting down.” He made sure to note that he and his team are working on refunds and transferable tickets in light of the situation.
The “8 Letters” singer — who also made it to the Top 10 on American Idol Season 14 — hopes to be able to perform his scheduled shows in Australia and New Zealand next month.
“I’m taking the next few weeks to get at the bottom of these issues,” he explained.
Seavey’s European tour postponement comes three months after his fellow Why Don’t We band members — Corbyn Besson, Jonah Marais, Jack Avery and Zach Herron — received a mixed verdict in their years-long lawsuit against the band’s management, including that the band is no longer allowed to use the Why Don’t We name.
