With a legacy that includes many beloved shows and franchises, including the Scream movies, Dawson’s Creek and The Vampire Diaries, Kevin Williamson’s latest project has high expectations.

Inspired by true events, the series follows the “flawed Buckley family,” who have “ruled Havenport, North Carolina, dominating everything from the local fishing industry to the town’s restaurant scene.”
Per the streamer’s synopsis, “their fishing empire has started to crumble as patriarch Harlan Buckley (Holt McCallany) recovers from two heart attacks, and his wife Belle (Maria Bello) and son Cane (Jake Weary) venture into the deep end to keep the family businesses afloat.”
“Facing her own demons, Buckley daughter Bree (Melissa Benoist) — an addict in recovery who’s lost custody of her son Diller (Brady Hepner) — finds herself entangled in a complicated relationship that could threaten the family’s future forever,” it continues.
Described as a “twisty drama” set against a coastal backdrop (the closest we’ll get to One Tree Hill’s Wilmington, North Carolina), it will span 8 episodes, dropping all at once.
After the first-look photos and trailer dropped on May 22, fans were thrilled, revealing they’d be watching for one reason only—Benoist.
“Here for Supergirl’s Melissa Benoist & Danielle Campbell from the Originals” one wrote, as a second echoed, “YESSS Melissa Supergirl’s look is back on screen that HAIR.”
The praise continued with comments like “You had me at Supergirl!” “Danielle Campbell & Melissa Benoist is in it oh I’m so sattt !” “All you had to say was Melissa Benoist” and “i’m a simple person: i see melissa benoist, i click.”

In addition to the Supergirl and The Originals fandoms, the Mindhunter fans were also eager to tune in, writing, “To Mindhunter fans: show your support for Holt! This looks Great!” and “Fans of Mindhunter, please support Holt! This looks fantastic!”
“You had me at Kevin Williamson creating this,” another comment said, praising the creator who also wrote screenplays for I Know What You Did Last Summer and helmed shows like The Following and Tell Me a Story.
The series will also feature a ton of guest stars, including Topher Grace, Dave Annable, Michael Gaston, Gerardo Celasco, and Zach Roerig.
