Bold and the Beautiful alum Ronn Moss will always be Ridge Forrester to fans, but more than a decade after his exit from the soap opera, he’s looking less like his famous character.

The actor, 73, posted a series of Instagram photos on Tuesday, July 22, in which he showed off his gray hair transformation while posing shirtless with his dog in a Milan hotel room.

Bold and the Beautiful fans saw Moss with dark black hair during his tenure on the soap opera, while in recent years, he sported more of a salt and pepper look. However, his new hair color is primarily gray, though the chin-length style he’s known for remains the same.

Moss portrayed Ridge Forrester on The Bold and the Beautiful from 1987 to 2012. Amid his exit from the CBS soap opera, he spoke to Entertainment Weekly in 2012 about the impact he expected it to have on the show’s fans.

“I just want all of these people — and it sounds altruistic and whatever, but I really, strongly feel it — to be OK with this,” he told the outlet at the time. “It’s a massive transition for them. They consider me family, and I feel an obligation to be a part of their family.”

According to Moss, he chose to leave the show due to a salary dispute and his desire to pursue new creative avenues.

“It all showed me I need to move forward, not backwards, and I’ve been doing this for 25 years. How many shows — how many jobs — last that long?” he said. “I felt that I needed to go in this new direction to give myself the chance to do all the creative things that I haven’t had a chance to do in 25 years because I’ve dedicated so much of my life to this. That’s what I want the fans to hear, how dedicated I am to them. I wouldn’t have done it all this time if I wasn’t dedicated. It’s not just a job! I could do lots of other jobs. I had music, I had lots of other acting things.”

Since his departure, Moss has focused on his music career and acted in projects including The Bay and Trail Blazers.

Meanwhile, the role of Ridge was taken over by Thorsten Kaye in 2013.

At the time of his exit, Moss explained why he’d rather the show not recast his role.

“If it was up to me, I would say, ‘Let me have that as the legacy. Let me make that 25 years worth what I thought it was,’” he noted. “But it’s out of my hands.”
