Elizabeth Hurley was engaged to Shane Warne from 2011 through 2013. Though the two never made it down the aisle, it’s clear that Warne was a big part of the actress’ life. In March 2022, Warne died while on vacation in Thailand.
According to BBC News, police say that Warne died of “natural causes” at the age of 52. It’s believed that he had a heart attack while staying on Koh Samui island.
“Last November, we went to the Melbourne Cup and it was the first time I’d been back to Melbourne since Shane died. And so it was, we knew it was going to be a very traumatic trip,” Hurley said on the August 12 episode of the Travel Secrets podcast.
“So we linked it in to going racing and also an opportunity to, you know, to get some closure in other ways,” she continued.
A bit later in the podcast, Hurley shared that Warne was from Melbourne.
“Going back to Melbourne just now for the Melbourne Cup was, it was very bittersweet. I got very upset, but then I was very glad that I went. And I know when I next go back to Australia, it’ll be fine,” she said.

“All [of Shane’s] family are there. And so, you know, I could see his mum and dad and brother, and it was the first time I’ve seen them since. I’ve seen the kids before because they come to England. So, yeah, that was really full of disturbing. Yeah, that wasn’t good, but I’m really glad I’ve done it,” she said.
Hurley has moved on romantically and is currently in a relationship with Billy Ray Cyrus. The two went Instagram official on Easter Sunday 2025.
