Cinnabon is marking a major milestone this year, and doing so like it’s 1985.
On Tuesday, Aug. 12, in honor of its 40th anniversary, the bakery chain announced its one-day celebration where the price of a Classic Roll will roll back to just $1.25 — the same cost customers paid the year the first bakery opened in Seattle.
On Friday, Aug. 22, from 12 to 4 p.m. local time, members of Cinnabon Rewards can pick up a roll at their local participating Cinnabon bakery. The in-store promotion will be available at select locations while supplies last, with a limit of one per person.

New members of the rewards program will receive a complimentary 4-count BonBite with any purchase, exclusive surprise offers throughout the year and a special birthday treat.
“People are looking for value, and it’s tough right now, but everyone still wants that little moment that they can celebrate and indulge themselves,” Michael Pittman, Vice President and Head of Marketing for Cinnabon at GoTo Foods, told PEOPLE exclusively. “And Cinnabon is the perfect little treat to do that.”
The anniversary celebration also includes the debut of the Bon Backpack, a throwback 80s-inspired insulated bag designed with a custom compartment — perfect for back-to-school lunchboxes and keeping cinnamon rolls warm while on the move.
“We really wanted to do something unexpected, fun and nostalgic to celebrate being around for four decades,” added Pittman.
Starting Aug. 12, the Bon Backpack is available for pre-order exclusively at swag.cinnabon.com while supplies last.

The Bon Backpack
Cinnabon has over 2,100 bakeries across 48 states and in 65 countries and territories, with a presence in malls, airports, train stations and other high-traffic entertainment venues.
Earlier this year, the chain opened its first concept shop, Cinnabon Swirl, where it debuted the Bonini. The collaborative treat is a sweet take on the panini sandwich, in which a Cinnabon Classic Roll is sliced in half with a layer of Carvel vanilla soft serve in the middle. Then, the sandwich is pressed together, in a panini press or similar, to create a warm, gooey dessert.
The first location opened in Hillsboro, Oregon, in May, with parent company GoTo Foods projecting to debut an additional 30 locations nationwide. The next locations are set to open in Peoria, Ariz., Kennesaw, Ga., and Pasadena, Calif., by the end of the year.
