Chris Pratt is sharing new details about his youngest’s unique name.
During a Tuesday, Aug. 4, appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Pratt, 46, was asked about how he and wife Katherine Schwarzenegger Pratt decided on the name for their 8-month-old, wondering if it had a connection to the actor’s family. The dad of four welcomed his son Ford with wife Schwarzenegger Pratt in November 2024.
“They paid the most,” he joked, referring to the Ford truck company. “He was almost Hyundai.”

He continued the bit, saying, “No, it’s Ford Explorer Pratt.”
The reality of how Pratt and Schwarzenegger Pratt settled on Ford’s name was actually much simpler.
“I don’t know. It was one of those names where if I had come up with it, I know that Katherine would have been like, ‘No.’ But she came up with it; I was like, ‘Yes.’ We’re good. We’ve got that. Lock that in. It’s Ford,” he admitted.

“We are overjoyed to announce the birth of our son, Ford Fitzgerald Schwarzenegger Pratt. Mama and baby are doing well and Ford’s siblings are thrilled by his arrival. We feel so blessed and grateful,” they wrote in a joint post on Instagram.
The Marvel star and author also share daughters Lyla, 4, and Eloise, 3. Pratt and his ex-wife Anna Faris are parents to Jack, 12.
Lyla will be celebrating her fifth birthday on Wednesday, Aug. 6.
Speaking to host Jimmy Fallon, Pratt shared some insight into her big birthday party, which has an epic theme: “She’s really into mermaids right now. So we’ll be having a mermaid party with real mermaids,” he said.
While on the red carpet this week at the New York City premiere of his new series The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, Pratt also told PEOPLE that he had special gifts for all of his children to mark the occasion.
“I just picked her up a nice present here in New York. I also got her sister something, and both of her brothers also will be getting something,” he said.
“She loves to swim. She’s really good at swimming,” he continued, adding that the birthday bash would be “a big party” with a petting zoo as well as the mermaids.

Pratt had more to say about Ford during a recent appearance on Today.
“He’s doing great,” he said, adding, “He’s the happiest baby. He’s got these giant, beautiful blue eyes. He’s so special. Everyone says that about their kids, most of them are wrong. I’m not wrong. This kid is very special.”
Regarding his parenting style, he described it as “sensitive.”
“My style is very heavily influenced by how I was raised. I was a very sensitive kid, but my dad was very tough and very strict. So I tend to be a little more mindful of the sensitivity in kids. So I’m not as tough and I’m not as strict,” he explained.
