After relatives of the bride ransacked the buffet at her wedding reception, her sister ranted about the situation on Reddit — where the family’s behavior was dubbed everything from “entitled” to “trashy” by commenters.
The bride’s sister shared the alleged story in a post published Monday, May 12 on the “r/mildlyinfuriating” subreddit. She even included a photo showing the arms of a person who appears to be filling a plastic bag with food from a chafing dish.
Alongside the picture, the original poster (OP) provided more context, writing that not long after the buffet opened at her sister’s wedding, some people “immediately” started packing food to take home — “before even having [a] plate for themselves.”
“While most guest were lining up to eat, some of my relative from my mother’s side skipped the line completely and started filling plastic bags with food to take home,” she wrote.

“It was so embarrassing, especially for the newlyweds who paid for everything,” she continued, before concluding, “Like, can we enjoy the event [first]?”
When asked why the woman did not “say something,” the OP revealed that they did but “came in late” as they were busy with the bride before a guest informed them “about the matter.”
In response, users on “r/mildlyinfuriating” had lots of opinions, with most agreeing that the behavior was not only inappropriate for a wedding, but just flat-out rude in any social setting.
“That’s so entitled I’m disgusted. If that was my wedding I would’ve told them to keep the food and leave the wedding immediately,” one user wrote, while another said, “That’s some trashy s—.”
“Trashy af. Would’ve kicked them out,” another user echoed. “We need to stop normalizing inviting terrible people to weddings.”
Another person called the relatives’ behavior at the nuptials “the wildest wedding thing I’ve ever seen,” noting that if they were in the OP’s shoes, the culprits “would never set foot at another family function in my family.”

Others, meanwhile, revealed that at their own family functions, similar buffet raids have occurred.
“We’ve got family who does this,” one user wrote. “They used to live out of state so we chalked the behavior up to them wanting to enjoy the family cooking while they had access.”
“I knew a couple who would go to funerals just for the buffet, eat and then just piss off,” a different user recalled, adding, “It takes a special kind of ignorance and audacity to behave this way, it’s genuinely embarrassing for people who know them.”
