All of the pomp and circumstance of weddings these days can cost a pretty penny. Venues can be tens (if not hundreds) of thousands, food prices are astronomical, and travel fees for bachelorette parties and destination weddings are through the roof. Not to mention a wedding dress and alterations rival the hautest of haute couture price tags.
One bride, however, found a way to save a little—or a lot—in the latter department. A Reddit user by the name of larryslips took to the r/VintageFashion subreddit to share photos of her stunning dress—with an even more beautiful price point—that she thrifted for her special day. In the images, the bride can be seen modeling the vintage regencycore gown with puffy lace sleeves, a lace-up bodice, and a pearl-embellished collar around the neckline. The flowy chiffon skirt featured delicate doily detail near the hem and a tie in the back cinched in the dress to fit like a glove. The bride styled the piece with a gold and pearl choker, and wore her strawberry blonde hair in down in tousled waves.

One bride on Reddit found a wedding dress for $50.
“My vintage dream wedding dress that i found for under $50,” she wrote in the title of the post. “Fits like a glove!”
Beneath the snaps, which is labeled as a “sweet find” she wrote, “I could scream I am so happy!”
The post has gone viral with 14,000 votes and nearly 400 comments. One Reddit user pointed out the serendipity of the bride finding this gem. “Looks like it was waiting for you to come and find it! What a perfect fit, looks so good on you!🥰,” they wrote.

The vintage dress from the 1970s fit the bride like a glove.
One commenter first thought that it was the exact Jessica McClintock gown they wore for their 1978 nuptials, though, the bride-to-be pointed out that the thrifted find is Junior Scene from the ’70s.
Another user noted, “There were many ‘in the style of’ Jessica McClintock dresses made,” they said. “Yours is LOVELY.”

It was a very serendipitous find.
The brand was popular at the time for its prairie dresses and romantic styles. The exact frock appears to have been available on Etsy before selling out, while other similar styles from the era are still for sale on the commerce platform.
