NEED TO KNOWNicole and Brandon Case’s wedding

NEED TO KNOW

  • A bride, who is a veterinary nurse, surprised her wedding guests with several rescue dogs at her cocktail hour to encourage adoption

  • Several applications were put in for the puppies, and the bride’s boss adopted “the oldest and sickest dog” available

  • “It was a perfect mix of honoring our [late dog] Lucy, bringing much needed attention and donations to a local rescue, and providing extra laughs and love during cocktail hour,” the bride tells PEOPLE

A bride and groom’s cocktail hour was complete with puppies!

The couple, Nicole and Brandon Case, surprised their wedding guests by bringing in a pack of adoptable, playful puppies during their cocktail hour on Saturday, Aug. 2, at The Rotunda at Lauxmont Farms in Wrightsville, Pennsylvania.

“This is something I have always dreamed of,” Nicole tells PEOPLE. “When I curated my wedding Pinterest board when I was younger, it was filled with lace, twinkle lights, and puppies!”

Several puppies, plus an 8-year-old terminally ill dog, from nonprofit foster-based rescue Outcast Rescue were brought onto the venue’s grassy field, where the newlyweds and their friends and family members gave them loving cuddles and belly rubs.

“Almost all of [the guests] thought, ‘I’m in trouble!’ ” Nicole says. “We surround ourselves with dog lovers, so we knew everyone would be excited, but it was really special to see how happy the staff was to see them too!”

“Guests sipped, snuggled, and fell head over heels for these furry guests of honor,” Outcast Rescue wrote on Instagram, noting that a portion of the dogs were “abandoned in a box just days old, and lovingly bottle-fed by the amazing team at Outcast Rescue.”

In addition to “generous donations to support [the dogs’] care” being raised, “the gentlest little lovebug” named Mini found her forever home that day.

“I know there were several applications put in for the puppies, but the best part of all of this was that the oldest (and sickest) dog was adopted that day by my boss, who is the lead veterinarian at the hospital I work at!” Nicole says.

She adds that the senior bulldog is now “spoiled rotten.”

“Our primary goal is finding forever homes for those pups in need under our care,” the Outcast Rescue team tells PEOPLE. “We were honored to be part of the celebration and the dogs had an amazing time.”

Nicole is a veterinary nurse, so she holds rescue animals close to her heart and her home. She and Brandon were inspired to make dogs a part of their special day after their first pet rescue dog died.

“In lieu of wedding favors, and in memory of our first rescue dog, Lucy Loo, we made a donation to the rescue and asked them to come with dogs that needed homes,” Nicole explains. “We had a bar cart set up with individually wrapped treats for our guests to take home to their dogs too.”

She continues: “It was a perfect mix of honoring our best girl Lucy, bringing much needed attention and donations to a local rescue, and providing extra laughs and love during cocktail hour.”

The Lauxmont Farms team tell PEOPLE that they always admire whenever couples personalize their celebrations in ways that feel “meaningful, memorable, and completely their own.”

“We believe your day should reflect you, couples are free to bring in the people, services, and even causes closest to their hearts,” the team says. “Like Nicole and Brandon, who surprised their guests by partnering with a local dog rescue who brought adoptable puppies to cocktail hour, because let’s be honest, puppies pair perfectly with cocktails.”
