Bobby Lee got real about why he thinks his And Just Like That character wasn’t asked back for season 3.
“Some of the woke elements of the show, they got rid of, and I think I was a part of that,” Lee, 53, claimed to Entertainment Weekly at San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday, July 24. “I think Sara [Ramirez] didn’t come back and some other people. They tried to put minorities in, and — I don’t know. I never saw the show.”

Lee played Jackie Nee, Carrie Bradshaw’s (Sarah Jessica Parker) podcast cohost, for the first two seasons of the Sex and the City spinoff. He claimed to EW that he wasn’t asked back for season 3, which is currently airing.

And Just Like That picks up with SATC’s Carrie, Miranda Hobbs, played by Cynthia Nixon, and Charlotte York, played by Kristin Davis, as they navigate New York City in their 50s. OG star Kim Cattrall did not return as Samantha Jones.
While Lee was a fun addition when Carrie was focused on her podcast, season 3 has pivoted to the columnist’s work on her new novel. With that change, Carrie’s full podcast team did not return for the current season, including Lee’s Jackie, Ivan Hernandez’s Franklyn Silvias and Ali Stroker’s Chloe.
Ramirez, who played Miranda’s love interest, Che Diaz, for the first two seasons, also exited the series ahead of season 3. (Che and Miranda called it quits during a season 2 episode in July 2023, agreeing their romance was a “trainwreck” but a “good trainwreck.”)

Karen Pittman, who portrayed Miranda’s professor and later friend Nya Wallace, didn’t return for the current season either.
Season 3 has also brought new characters into the fold, including Miranda’s brief fling named Mary (Rosie O’Donnell), who was a Canadian tourist. Dolly Wells later joined the cast as Miranda’s latest love interest, Joy.
Despite only lasting two seasons, Lee told EW that he has nothing but love for the cast and crew.
“Sarah Jessica Parker is the nicest person I’ve ever met. She made me feel so at ease,” he recalled. “I like everyone on there. It was fun. I never have bad blood with anybody. You know what I mean? I am nice. I show up on time.”

The comedian then joked that landing the gig came as a surprise based on his resume. “No. 1, I don’t even know why they asked,” Lee confessed. “And I was super scared to do it. Because it wasn’t my brand, really. You know what I mean? But I did it. I walked through the fear.”
