If you’re a regular visitor to the four parks at Walt Disney World, odds are good you’ve made your way through many of the popular restaurants in each of them, especially if you stayed on a dining plan.
As of May 10, a beloved restaurant at Hollywood Studios closed its doors for good in anticipation of the construction of Monsters Inc. Land.
Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano officially served its last crowd of diners last night, and fans of the spot are so sad to see it go.
According to WDWMagic.com, the windows are already blacked out and the menu is no longer on the board outside.
Here’s a glimpse of diners enjoying their very last night at Mama Melrose’s. People in the restaurant cheered as the very last guests were seated for their meal.
One viewer simply stated, “This broke my heart,” and another added, “One of the best place to eat on property. Top 10 in my books. I’ll miss this place.”
Someone else noted, “I’m gonna miss this place… ate there in February and am going back down in a week… I had hoped to get one more meal in.”

The same TikTok account who shared the video above, @mickeyblog_, also posted one final tour of Mama Melrose’s to say goodbye to the Hollywood Studios staple.
“Now it’s time to say goodbye…”
While the restaurant will clearly be missed, other Disney fans are no doubt excited about the upcoming Monsters Inc. Land attraction.
Disney Parks Blogexplains that actor Billy Crystal helped announced the news of the new park addition, saying:
“The first time I saw Monsters, Inc., all I wanted to do was ride on one of those doors like Mike and Sulley. You’ll go into the factory and experience the first suspended coaster ever in a Disney park. Remember in the movie how those claws grab the doors and hoist them up into the air to take them away? We’re doing that, too. And you’re going along for the ride.”
