If there’s one red carpet that can be considered the Olympics of fashion, it’s certainly the Met Gala. On the first Monday in May, a beautiful gown just won’t cut it. The displays of fashion worn throughout the years, which range from live costume changes to glow-in-the-dark looks, prove that standing out at the Met Gala takes grit—and a lot of imagination.
Marking a historic milestone, this year was no exception. Sticking to the “Tailored for You” theme, which is inspired by the Costume Institute’s “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” exhibit, stars like Colman Domingo, Doja Cat, Zendaya, and Lewis Hamilton dashed up the Met Museum steps with unique takes on traditional suiting. Meanwhile, other names like Diana Ross and Gigi Hadid opted to honor the gala’s theme with glamorous gowns, including Ross’s mind-bending, superlong cape that stopped the red carpet.
In celebration of yet another unforgettable Met Gala red carpet, here are the 18 best-dressed celebrities at the 2025 Met Gala.

Co-chair Colman Domingo channeled the late Vogue editor André Leon Talley in a show-stopping blue cape with an oversized gold bib. But, of course, he wasn’t done there. The Oscar-nominated actor took off his cape to reveal a gray-and-black suit with a polka dot tie and flower brooch.

One of the night’s first arrivals, Teyana Taylor walked up the Met steps in a black-and-red Marc Jacobs look that set the tone for the rest of the evening. Taylor chose a pinstripe suit with a red cape overcoat, pairing it with a durag that blossomed into a train and a matching top hat. The cape had the words “Harlem Rose” emblazoned on it, a nod to Taylor’s New York roots.

Last year’s co-chair may have dominated the red carpet with her two show-stopping “Garden of Time” looks, but this year, she kept it simple. Wearing a perfectly tailored white suit and matching, she channeled Bianca Jagger’s famous bridal look.

Show me another diva like Diana Ross—I’ll wait. The legendary singer literally took over the Met Gala steps with a white cape that stretched far behind her. She accessorized with an angel’s halo hat that made her look out of this world. A sweet nod to her lineage, Ross’s train featured the names of all her children and grandchildren.

If there’s one thing Bad Bunny will do at the Met Gala, it’s reference his native Puerto Rico. The superstar stepped out in a brown suit with a dazzling brooch by Prada, paired with crystal-encrusted leather gloves. On his head, he donned a rendition of a traditional Puerto Rican pava, a straw hat worn traditionally by workers in rural parts of the island.

Styled by Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, Hadid’s gold gown paid homage to designer Zelda Wynn Valdes, a remarkable talent from Manhattan’s Washington Heights who outfitted stars like Ella Fitzgerald. Hadid’s gown was embellished all over with sequins and paillettes, which is why she kept her accessories minimal.

The Office actress leaned into the tension between menswear and womenswear with tonight’s look. Dressed by Harbison Studio, Kaling dazzled in an all-black coat dress with a contrasting red train. Gold buttons and a white tie served up the night’s tailoring theme.
