Amanda Seyfried reveals the sacrifices her husband, Thomas Sadoski, makes to support her career and their family.
Amanda Seyfried, known for her roles in Mamma Mia and Mank, has always been private about her personal life. However, in a recent interview with Vogue, she opened up about the sacrifices her husband, Thomas Sadoski, makes to support her career and their family.
Seyfried and Sadoski, both actors, have been married since 2017 and have two children together. Seyfried revealed that Sadoski often puts her career first, understanding the unique opportunities she is being offered. “He sacrifices a lot for me,” she said. “He also knows that, in this moment, the opportunities I’m being afforded are insane.”
The Journey of Amanda Seyfried and Thomas Sadoski
Seyfried and Sadoski first met on the set of their 2009 film The Way We Get By. They became friends and later started dating after both had ended their respective relationships. Seyfried has often spoken about the respect and support Sadoski showed her from the beginning.
“We were both in bad relationships,” Seyfried told PorterEdit. “We never flirted, never disrespected his wife. That was another reason why I thought, later on, that I could marry him.”
Balancing Career and Family
Seyfried has become more selective about her roles since starting a family with Sadoski. “Up until a few years ago I was working so much, and I was worried that if I gave myself a break, I wouldn’t be able to get back into it,” she told Grazia. “But now I have a husband who, like me, loves his work and two children that need somebody to be with them. Because of this I only accept roles that I consider impossible to miss out on.”
Seyfried also shared how she communicates with her children about her work. “My world’s moving so fast, and there’s so many things I have to do each day, and there’s no way I can express what I’m doing,” she said. “I just make very clear every day: ‘I really would rather be home with you.’”
Public Appearances and Private Life
Despite their busy schedules, Seyfried and Sadoski make time for public appearances together. In November 2024, they attended the opening night of the Avett Brothers Broadway musical Swept Away at the Longacre Theatre in New York City.
Seyfried rarely shares photos of Sadoski on her Instagram, choosing instead to keep posts focused on her work and the animals they raise on their upstate New York farm. However, she occasionally gives glimpses into their life together, such as a post on January 1, 2024, where she expressed her gratitude for her family.
Supporting Each Other
Seyfried and Sadoski are known for their mutual support. In 2017, Seyfried shared that Sadoski was fired from a job after he publicly supported Jessica Walter, who claimed she was verbally harassed by her Arrested Development co-star Jeffrey Tambor. “Here’s a somewhat recent post from my husband who, in return for standing beside a badass woman who’d recently been bullied, recently lost out on a job because of this,” Seyfried wrote. “I’d rather speak up and lose out. Integrity, ladies and gentlemen.”
Sadoski has also spoken about his love for being a father. After the birth of their first daughter, he told Fatherly, “When my daughter discovers something new. That’s the coolest thing in the world. That chokes me up every time she does it.”
Looking Ahead
As Seyfried continues to navigate her career and family life, she remains grateful for the support of her husband. “I do say no a lot,” she admitted to Vogue. “But I also know that I’m pretty prepped because I’ve done a lot of work in the decade of my 30s. I’ve done a lot of couples therapy. I’ve done a lot of therapy alone. I’ve had insane amounts of conversations with psychologists and friends who are psychologists that I feel like I have a lot of self-knowledge.”
