Week 3 of Project Runway Season 21 saw the drama intensify with the first solo challenge: The highly-anticipated unconventional materials challenge. This time, the designers were tasked with creating a runway-ready look using items from a school science fair.
Lisa Ann Walter, and Chris Perfetti from Abbott Elementary joined judge Law Roach to set the stage. Roach warned the designers against “hot-glued junk,” challenging them to be innovative and creative. The contestants had to choose from an eclectic mix of materials, including banners, balloons, volleyballs, and posterboard, to create a stunning, high-fashion piece.
In a Project Runway first, the designs were shown in the workroom, which, as judge Christian Siriano pointed out, “in this room, you can see it all.”

With Heidi Klum and Nina Garcia absent from the judging panel this week, the designers faced just one judge, legendary image architectLaw Roach. Working in tandem with the expert Ulta Beauty hair and makeup team, the designers’ creations were given the perfect flawless finish and extra sparkle they needed to truly shine on the runway.

Who went home on Project Runway Season 21 Week 3 tonight?
Angelo Rosa
Fans asking who went home on Week 3 of Project Runway Season 21’s tonight got their answer at the beginning of the episode. The episode kicked off by resolving the cliffhanger from the previous week, with designer Angelo Rosa from the former House of Ethan sent home.
Following the unconventional materials challenge in Week 3, Joseph McRae, Joan Madison and Antonio Estrada were deemed the least favorite designs.
Returning judge and celebrity stylist Law Roach, who judged the runway solo this week, did not hold back. He expressed his particular frustration with Madison’s look, deeming it “sad” and saying the designer’s choice to paint popsicle sticks made them look like “dead vegetation.”.
The losing designer will be revealed in Week 4.

In a surprising twist, the designers themselves were deemed the final judges, and were tasked with eliminating one of the bottom three designers. “All of the designers that are not in the bottom three have a vote,” said Siriano.
