Taylor Sheridan is not a creator to sit on his laurels. Since his first television show, Yellowstone, became a mega-hit, the Sheridan universe has taken off, packed not only with prequels and spin-offs of the original show, but with whole new creative worlds to explore. As of this writing, Sheridan has nearly a dozen shows in some stage of development, with rumors of more appearing all the time. So whether you’re trying to stay up to date on the latest entry in the Yellowstone universe or you just can’t get enough of Sheridan’s creations on your screen, here’s your guide to all of his TV shows.

Sheridan’s original hit, Yellowstone centers on the Dutton family who own and run the largest contiguous cattle ranch in the United States. Over the years, the show’s become a fan favorite for its Succession-esque family in-fighting, edge of your seat action, and dynamic natural beauty (not to mention the occasional dose of romance from everyone’s favorite couple, Beth and Rip.)
In May 2023, it was announced that season 5 will be the series’s last, and while rumors have continued to stoke hope of a surprise sixth season, there are been no word of renewal. Ahead of the finale, news began to circulate that new spinoffs involving some of the flagship show’s characters were in the works (see below) making it look increasingly unlikely that the original show could return for another outing. it is now widely agreed that the season 5 finale was the show’s last.
Dutton Ranch
Just days before the finale of Yellowstone season 5 (and possibly the end of the series), Deadline reported that series stars Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser would be returning to their fan-favorite characters Beth and Rip for a new spinoff show. While few other details have been forthcoming, in April 2025, Bloomberg confirmed the show’s working title: Dutton Ranch.
While both Hauser and Reilly have seemingly confirmed the news, and reports have the series going into production this summer for a fall 2025 air date, Paramount still has yet to officially comment.
Y: Marshals
In March 2025, rumors began to circulate about another Yellowstone spinoff, this one starring Luke Grimes. In May, it was confirmed that the actor will reprise his role as the youngest Dutton sibling in a new series airing on CBS in 2026.
Per the show’s official logline, “With the Yellowstone Ranch behind him, Dutton joins an elite unit of U.S. Marshals, combining his skills as a cowboy and Navy SEAL to bring range justice to Montana, where he and his teammates must balance family, duty and the high psychological cost that comes with serving as the last line of defense in the region’s war on violence.”

The first sister-show in the Yellowstone universe, this prequel (starring Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, and Sam Elliott) tells the story of the Dutton family ancestors long before they founded their namesake Montana ranch. In it, the spirited teenager Elsa attempts to travel to Oregon by wagon train with her family to start a new life, but there are plenty of troubles awaiting them on the trail ahead.
In 2022, the network announced that more episodes of the show were being ordered, but with no additional information about that possibility arising since, it’s looking unlikely that the series will return.
1923

The latest entry into the Yellowstone universe stars Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford as a new generation of the Dutton legacy. In it, Montana’s most relentless ranching family has to face down the challenges of the Great Depression, social upheaval, and drama with their fellow ranchers as they try to keep their homestead alive.
A second season premiered in February 2025—while it has yet to be officially confirmed whether a third outing will be forthcoming, the status quo in the season finale and subsequent statements by the actors suggest that the series has concluded.
1944
In 2023, Paramount announced that another Taylor Sheridan series was in the works with the working title 1944. Since then, no additional information has been revealed, though based on the title, it would appear to be another prequel in the same vein as 1883 and 1923.
The Madison
With Yellowstone apparently over, the Sheridan-verse is expanding in a new direction with The Madison. The series, which has been billed as a spinoff of Yellowstone (though it’s not yet clear precisely how it ties in to the flagship drama) will star Michelle Pfeiffer and Matthew Fox. Per the official synopsis it will be, “a heartfelt study of grief and human connection following a New York City family in the Madison River valley of central Montana.”
The series began filming in late summer 2024 and is expected to debut some time in 2025, but no dates have been announced yet.
6666
First announced in 2021, the fate of this long-gestating spinoff of Yellowstone remains very much up in the air. The show centers on the 6666 (pronounced “four-sixes”) ranch in Texas, and was originally set to debut in 2023.
However, in June of that year Sheridan apparently backtracked about the series, saying “That, for a number of reasons, needs a unique level of special care because this is a real place with real families working here. You have to respect the lineage. I’ve told [the studio] to be patient.”

Ali Larter, 1923‘s Michelle Randolph, and Jon Hamm, and Demi Moore round out the cast.
In March 2025, Paramount+ confirmed that the series will return for a second season. Filming began for the second season in April 2025.
