‘Days of Our Lives’ Shares First Look at John Black’s Emotional Farewell originally appeared on Parade.
It’s the end of an era for Days of Our Lives fans, as the beloved character of John Black, played by the late Drake Hogestyn, passes away. Ahead of the emotional storyline the show is giving fans a glimpse of what is to come.
The official Days of Our Lives YouTube channel has released a heartbreaking promo teasing next weeks tragic turn of events.
The promo opens up with Marlena (Deidre Hall), climbing into John’s bed and tells her husband, “If you need to go it’s okay.” While Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) tearfully shares the news in the Brady pub that “It’s John he died last night.”
Marlena is then seen talking to her son Eric (Greg Vaughan) sharing, “There’s never enough time is there? When someone is your everything” before her daughter Belle comes in tearfully for a hug requesting her mother. We then see Marlena sitting on her bed, all alone, saying, “I really need to learn to do things on my own now.”
The promo then pivots to the other big story for the week as Bo Brady (Peter Reckell) awakens from his coma. Surrounded by his wife Hope (Kristian Alfonso) he shares, “One thing that hasn’t changed is my love for you.” We then see the Brady family reunited as he says “We’re so lucky to have this amazing family.” Before his grandson says “Hi Grandpa.”
Fans immediately took to the comment section to share their thoughts on John’s tearful goodbye. One user shared, “😭💔 that’s exactly how I felt when my father passed away…we don’t expect it and no matter how many struggles and challenges, nothing can prepare you enough for it. If you gone through it, you understand, and perhaps this next week’s episodes will bring some of us some healing, laughs and good memories as we all have enjoyed the acting by John Black’s character and actor from day 1 till now.” While another shared, “I can’t even watch the preview without crying… sad tears over John’s (Drake’s) death and happy tears over Bo’s recovery. But with Bo, I believe he might need some time to recover to get back to being the Bo that most of Salem knows and loves. I don’t know why, but that’s what I think when it comes to all that Bo has been through is that he’s going to need time to process it all away from Salem and then he’ll be able to go back home to his extended family after he does that.”
Days of Our Lives streams weekdays on Peacock.
