Zara Tindall (née Philips) opened up about ongoing tensions in the royal family following Prince Harry’s BBC interview earlier this month.

“It is very hard to see from the outside but, 100 percent, it is a family that is still going through the same struggles other people do,” Tindall, 43, told The Sun on May 8.

“Whether they are relationships, obviously it is very easy to see every day. We’re still very supportive of each other,” the daughter of Anne, Princess Royal, and Captain Mark Phillips, and the eldest niece of King Charles III, added.

During Prince Harry’s BBC interview, the father of two, who shares children Archie and Lilibet with Meghan Markle, addressed several personal and sensitive topics. Most notably, the Duke of Sussex claimed that his father wasn’t speaking to him “because of this security stuff.”

The “security stuff” in question dates back to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, 43, stepping down as senior royals in 2020. The U.K. native believes that his family is at risk whenever they return home and therefore he offered to pay for his own police security when he returns to England. However, the U.K. government declined the offer.

In return, Prince Harry sued the U.K. government, but lost the case in February 2024. The ruling asserted that the government acted lawfully in downgrading his security.

“I can’t see a world in which I would bring my wife and children back to the U.K. at this point,” Prince Harry said following the ruling.

Even so, Princess Diana’s youngest son insists he isn’t writing off his blood just yet. “I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point continuing to fight anymore, life is precious,” Prince Harry reasoned.

Moreover, he’d love nothing more than to feel safe returning to his home, concluding, “I love my country, I always have done, despite what some people in that country have done, and I think that it’s really quite sad that I won’t be able to show my children my homeland.”
