Taylor Swift did not make a return to the Met Gala—and oh, how we missed her.
The moment all the Swifties had been waiting for—Swift and Travis Kelce making their red-carpet debut on fashion’s biggest night—once again did not come through.
The record-breaking “Fortnight” singer and the NFL star were sorely missed as stars made their way down the carpeted steps of New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art tonight, for an evening inspired by the museum’s exhibition “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”
But, the couple’s absence does not come as a huge surprise.
The two have been lying low since the singer wrapped up her history-making Eras World Tour, and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end ended his football season (after losing the Super Bowl in February).
Plus, a source recently told Us Weekly that Swift and Kelce have decided to be a little more private following months of making headlines on every fashionable date night or football game.
Kelce has never walked the carpet at the starry event. And Swift—despite being one of the most famous faces in the world–last attended the Met Gala in 2016, when the theme was “Manus x Machina: Fashion In An Age Of Technology.” Then, the singer wore a metallic silver minidress from Louis Vuitton featuring a pleated skirt, plus black lace-up stiletto heels.
We hope the “So High School” singer’s long absence from the bash is just her teasing a major comeback.
