Vevo has started a series of “Footnotes” videos where the artists and producers of iconic music videos offer behind-the-scenes secrets and fun facts about the making of videos that have defined music.

On May 2, Vevo and Britney Spears released a “Footnotes” video for her hit 2000 music video “Oops!…I Did It Again.” In the video, Spears rocks her iconic red latex catsuit as she explores Mars.

Fun facts from the “Footnotes” version include the fact that producer Max Martin voiced the astronaut in the video and that the debris the astronaut finds in the wreckage is the original artwork for the single.

But the craziest bit of trivia is that the astronaut was played by model Eli Swanson, who has gone on to become a trauma surgeon.

Dr. Swanson is an orthopedic trauma surgeon in Glendale, Arizona. His biography says that he went to Columbia University, UCLA and the University of Texas for medical school, his residency and his fellowship, respectively.

In a YouTube video describing his philosophy as a doctor, Dr. Swanson says, “Being able to help someone in that moment of pain and fear and anxiety, dealing with an injury in the emergency room, I think that’s really rewarding and a special bond that you can develop with a patient, helping them through that difficult time.

“I try to make sure that all my patients have a thorough understanding of what’s going on,
what their diagnosis is, what the different treatment options are in terms of operative and non-operative treatment. I want them to say that I care, I go the extra mile, and I explain things in a way that makes sense to them, and ultimately, that they recovered from their injury to a point where they can go back and live their life in a normal manner, or as normal as possible depending what their injuries are.”

In an interview with People, Swanson said that working with Spears was “cool” and that she was “very sweet” and “very humble.”
