Former MTV personality and radio host Matt Pinfield is set to host Green Day’s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony on Thursday, May 1.
It will be Pinfield’s first public appearance since he suffered a massive stroke on Jan. 6 that left him unresponsive for two months and led his daughter to seek temporary conservatorship.

Prior to his stroke, Pinfield had been holding down regular air shifts on two Los Angeles radio stations—public radio KCSN (The SoCal Sound) and heritage rocker KLOS.
In advance of the big event, Pinfield has been sharing updates with his followers on social media.
“Slowly but surely recovering..lots of physical therapy..Fighting my way back!! One day at a time,” he posted on X (formerly Twitter) on April 25, along with a news clipping announcing his involvement in Green Day’s Walk of Fame ceremony.

“I just wanted to thank all of my family, friends, and followers for all of your prayers, love, and support during such a difficult time. It made all the difference in my recovery. Your collective positivity and encouragement has been overwhelming. Even while emerging from a coma, my attitude remained the same as always. Grateful for the gift of life and being able to enjoy all of the people and music that I love,” Pinfield shared in an April 28 post. “It is not lost on me how close I was to death from this stroke. Multiple medical experts thought there was a strong possibility that I would never speak or walk again. I still have a lot of work to do but I’m continuing with my rehabilitation and therapy and continually improving every day. It puts a smile on my face knowing I’ll be back on the airwaves with you very soon! So much love and thanks to you all!! I wouldn’t be here without you.”
