Picking out your wedding dress may be the most important decision you make leading up to the big day—well, second to finding the right partner, of course. One bride took matters into her own hands by designing and crafting her dream gown—something she dreamed of doing ever since she was a little girl.
Reddit user ApprehensiveCan7270 took to the platform to show off her creation: a blush colored A-line dress with lace overlay and green and white floral appliqués. “Fulfilled my childhood dream of sewing my own wedding dress,” she titled her post in the r/MadeMeSmile subreddit.

In the images, the bride’s new husband can be see twirling her around in her handmade gown in front of an idyllic backdrop featuring a vast pond. She styled the bespoke piece with a chunky bracelet, beaded necklace, and a matching flower crown that sat atop her wavy red bob. For his part, the groom wore a coordinating forest green suit.

She called her wedding day the “happiest day of my life.”
“Happiest day of my life,” she wrote alongside the images before sharing insight into the creative process. “I used Simplicity S8289 special occasion dress pattern for the base.”

It was always her childhood dream to sew her own wedding dress.
Other Reddit users flooded the comments to praise the bride’s craftsmanship. “This is one of the most beautiful wedding dresses I have ever seen,” one wrote. “I love the pale pink/blush color….and the flowers!!”
Another admirer gushed, “Seriously impressive! Sewing your own wedding dress is a huge accomplishment and it looks incredible. Huge congratulations!”
After seeing the positive feedback, the bride shared another message of gratitude. “Please just know I appreciate all of the kind words I’ve been getting,” she wrote. “I feel very seen and validated.”
