Reese Witherspoon is conquering her fears and taking a leap off a rocky cliff
In an Aug. 17 Instagram video, the actress, 49, shared an inside look at her vacation with son Tennessee

Reese Witherspoon is taking a leap of faith.
On Sunday, Aug. 17, the actress, 49, shared a video on Instagram from what appears to be a beautiful waterside vacation.
“Everyone’s been saying that people jump off this rock here,” the Oscar winner says in the clip. The video shows Witherspoon, in a black one-piece bathing suit, standing atop a rocky cliff looking over the edge. The You’re Cordially Invited star then zooms out to show just how high the cliff really was.
Then the video cuts to Witherspoon with her son Tennessee James, 12, debating their plan while enjoying a meal at their hotel.
“I don’t know, it looks pretty high,” the mother of three says. “ We’re trying to decide if we’re gonna jump off that rock.
But the Legally Blonde star followed through. In the final clip, the actress jumps off the edge and into the deep blue water below.

“Here’s what happens when fear… meets follow-through… because life’s too short to stay on the edge,” Witherspoon wrote in the on-screen text.
She added in the caption: “You won’t always feel ready but jump anyway. The rest will come on the way down.”
The post garnered lots of praise from fellow celebs in the comment section.
“This is so impressive,” Olivia Munn wrote, followed by two clapping hands emojis.
Julianne Moore said: “Omg!!!”
Meanwhile, Michelle Monaghan said, “Y E S !” with clapping hands.

Witherspoon shares Tennessee with her ex, Jim Toth. She also shares daughter Ava Phillippe, 25, and son Deacon Phillippe, 21, with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe.

This isn’t Witherspoon’s first beachside vacation of the year. In July, the Big Little Lies star packed on the PDA with her German financier boyfriend Oliver Haarmann, 57, on a yacht off the coast of Saint-Tropez, France.
The couple was photographed kissing and hugging while they lounged on a boat and in the water on July 13. Witherspoon wore a white bathing suit, while Haarmann opted for striped shorts and a blue tee-shirt.
Sources confirmed to PEOPLE that Witherspoon and Haarmann were dating in September 2024. In October, a source said Haarmann is “spending time with her kids too,” noting he’s met Deacon and Tennessee. Though, it was unclear if Haarmann had met Ava yet.
