Actress Ricki Lake Gives Emotional Tour of New NYC Apartment After Losing Home to LA Fires originally appeared on Parade.
When the LA Fires hit earlier this year, the devastation was felt throughout the country. According to the non-profit Cal Matters, it’s estimated that over 12,000 homes (and other structures) were utterly destroyed. Among them many celebrities lost their homes as well, and while in a largely better position than the average citizen, it was still devastating.
Actress Ricki Lake was one of the celebrities who lost everything in the fires, and one thing she was particularly heartbroken about was the loss of her collection. Now Lake is residing int New York City, and she recently shared a bittersweet tour of her NYC apartment and the art collection she’s slowly rebuilding.
“Moving to NYC has been such a whirlwind, getting pieces of art to decorate my space has really made this place feel more like home. Here is a walkthrough of my art, hope you enjoy,” she captioned the video where she showed off three incredible multimedia pieces.

Fans were supportive of Lake’s vulnerable video and celebrated the win of bringing new art into her home.

“I’m so sorry for your loss. It had to be devastating. But those pieces are stunning,” complimented another.
“Glad you’re doing well. It’s nice that your are finding peace after you lost your home. Having a home you love is everything,” empathized another.
