Are your loins girded for The Devil Wears Prada 2?
Earlier this month, the sequel to the beloved 2006 fashion flick officially entered production, and it is set to arrive in theaters on May 1, 2026, a whole 20 years after the original.
At first, it seemed we might only learn snippets about the film on social media, like when Anne Hathaway shared a TikTok teasing her first day on set (in a cerulean sweater, no less). But since filming began, there’s been a flurry of behind-the-scenes photos, giving us an idea of what to expect, at least fashion-wise. And a series of new shots might now be giving us clues about the plot, too.
Details of The Devil Wears Prada 2 have remained tightly under wraps, but the new images seem to suggest at least two things: Andy Sachs (Hathaway) is just as intimidated by Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep), and the two may be working together again.
On July 28, photographers snapped photos of Streep acting out a scene where she talks with Nigel Kipling (played by Stanley Tucci), her second-in-command and the art director at Runway magazine. A few paces back, you can see Andy following carefully behind, looking quite nervous and sheepish. It seems that not much as changed since her assistant days (except her style).
Fans will recall that when the original movie ends, we see Andy quit her job at Runway magazine and ultimately get hired at a newspaper thanks to Miranda’s recommendation. The viewer is left to believe that Andy has moved on to different ventures, but if these on-set photos are any indication, it seems she may be working for Miranda all over again.
For this new scene, Streep wears a silver silk blouse and matching maxi skirt layered under a long blazer and paired with coordinated pumps. Meanwhile, Tucci sports a houndstooth ecru suit layered over a pinstripe button-up and orange check tie. Behind them, Hathaway wears a cropped white top and sage pleated skirt paired with matching green pumps that feature golden heels.
In other BTS shots, the trio appear to be filming the same scene, but Hathaway is wearing a completely different outfit—this time, in navy blue.
In addition to the three photographed stars, other returning cast members include Emily Blunt, Tracie Thoms, and Tibor Feldman, while director David Frankel and screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna are returning to their posts from the original movie as well.
The countdown to this release could not be moving at a more glacial pace.
