Fans were left stunned and disappointed after legendary rock band, Alice in Chains, suddenly canceled their upcoming tour shows after their drummer, Sean Kinney, suffered some kind of medical emergency.
The decision was apparently made very abruptly, as people in Connecticut showed up for a concert at Mohegan Sun Casino on May 8 just an hour before the performance.
The band shared this message on their Twitter account, and based on social media posts from concert-goers, something similar was also shared on screens at the venue.
After our soundcheck this evening at the Mohegan Sun Arena, Sean experienced a non-life-threatening medical emergency. We unfortunately have to cancel tonight’s show. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

Then yesterday, May 9, the band shared the news that the rest of the tour has also been canceled in this Instagram post.

While fans who were planning on attending the shows are disheartened by the news, plenty of people left well-wishes for Kinney.
One person said, “Wishing this legendary drummer a speedy recovery! ❤️”
Rock legend Sammy Hagar also sent words of encouragement, saying, “Oh my goodness. So sorry to hear this from my dear friends, prayers and much love coming your way, Sean ❤️🙏”
A fellow drummer added, “Love to see a band that respects its members enough to put the most important things first. Respect. Best wishes to Sean ❤️”
And another loyal fan said, “Sean, we are all thinking of you! Please take good care and listen to the doctors! The massive Chainers worldwide have your back! Lots of Love & positive vibes coming your way 🙏❤️🙏”
According to Billboard, the Mohegan Sun show was set to be the band’s first full concert since 2024.
So far, no further information has been released on what kind of medical emergency Kinney suffered, and everyone is hoping he’ll be okay and will be on the mend soon.
