Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson are having a good time playing with speculation around their rumored romance.
The Naked Gun costars teased fans on the Today show on Tuesday, July 29, when they pretended to passionately make out when the cameras cut to them to tease their segment. The pair then broke apart pretending to be caught off-guard.
When co-host Craig Melvin then interviewed the actors, they played coy about the footage and the status of their relationship.
“Oh my goodness, nothing is sacred,” Anderson teased.
Melvin cut straight to the chase, asking the costars, “What’s the deal here? You’re both single right now. There’s clearly chemistry. Are you two an item?”

“What?!” a shocked-sounding Anderson, 58, replied. “I don’t understand the question.”
Neeson, 72, shook his head saying, “Craig, Craig.”
When pressed further the Taken star said, “I had never met Pamela before. We met on set. And we discovered we had a lovely budding chemistry as two actors. It was like ‘Ooo, this is nice, let’s not mold this. Let’s just let it breathe.’ And that’s what we did.”
Melvin didn’t give up, continuing to press, “So we’re watching the beginning of the breathing of a budding relationship?

In response, Neeson jokingly mimed stirring the pot and Melvin assured Anderson and Neeson that “America’s here for it. We’re here for whatever this turns into.”
Later in the interview, Neeson noted that he and Anderson are “both silly” adding, “It’s great to be with this lady. Every day’s a joy.”

Melvin told Anderson, “You bring out a different side to Liam Neeson,” and she simply replied, “Good.”
The Today co-anchor then told the actors, “We want you to come back when it’s official,” causing Anderson to burst out laughing.

Anderson previously told Entertainment Weekly of Neeson, “I think I have a friend forever in Liam. And we definitely have a connection that is very sincere, very loving, and he’s a good guy.”
While Anderson and Neeson interviewed on another for PEOPLE earlier this month, Neeson told her, “I’ve made over 100 films and it’s just rare for me to have that sort of chemistry.”
In The Naked Gun, Neeson plays Lt. Frank Drebin Jr., the son of Leslie Nielsen’s Frank Drebin from the original The Naked Gun films. Anderson plays his love interest, Beth.
The Naked Gun hits theaters Friday, Aug. 1.
