Kevin looks back at a song written for Kristin during a tough time, and the many memories they’ve made together since
Kevin Richardson is looking back at a song with extra special meaning.
The Backstreet Boys member, 53, recently shared the story of the band’s song “Back to Your Heart,” off of 1999’s Millennium.
In an Instagram Reel shared by BSB on Tuesday, June 17, the singer recalled writing and co-producing the track during a breakup with wife Kristin.
“I wrote ‘Back to Your Heart’ for Kristin, so that was very sentimental. Her and I were broken up, but it worked out good because I ended up marrying her,” he shared, on the occasion of the couple’s 25th wedding anniversary.

Kristin commented, writing to fans and her husband, “Thank you so much. 😍 25 years! It feels like we just blinked. You’ve given us so much adventure and good times BSB family! So Grateful. xoxo😘”
She also posted to mark the special occasion, sharing a photo of the couple out to dinner and a photo of Kevin with their two sons, Mason and Max.
“25 years with this beautiful human.❤️ Steadfast. Husband. Father. Grateful. 🙏 Love you @kevinscottrichardson,” she captioned the photos.
The couple met prior to the formation of the Backstreet Boys, while both were performing as characters at Walt Disney World in Orlando in 1992. “She walked into the cafeteria, and it was like someone turned a light on,” Kevin told PEOPLE in 1999.
While dating, the two had ups and downs, as Kevin mentioned. Kristin, an actor and dancer, has performed with the Radio City Rockettes and toured with Cher. Frequently, their busy careers kept them apart. They broke up and reunited more than once before Kevin popped the question in December of 1999.
