  • Second year fuel costs: $2,318

One muscle car that packs a punch is the 2024 Ford Mustang EcoBoost with a 315-horsepower turbocharged 2.3-liter engine and a 10-speed automatic transmission, per Car and Driver. The Mustang EcoBoost has an EPA rating of 22 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. The ratings from Consumer Reports on routine handling and transmission are five out of five, with a four out of five rating on emergency handling.

Mazda MX-5 Miata

  • 2024 model price range: $27,998 to $33,998

  • Second year maintenance costs: $472

  • Second year fuel costs: $2,077

This fun little two-door 2024 MX-5 Miata sports car comes with a 181-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and a standard six-speed manual transmission, according to Car and Driver. The MX-5 Miata averages 35 mpg on the highway and 26 mpg in the city. Emergency handling, routine handling and transmission ratings from Consumer Reports are five out of five across the board.

Chevrolet Camaro LT

  • 2024 model price range: $32,998 to $41,998

  • Second year maintenance costs: $608

  • Second year fuel costs: $2,364

Whether you choose the soft top convertible or the coupe, the 2024 Chevrolet Camaro LT, one of America’s favorite muscle cars, has a 335-horsepower V-6 engine with a choice of 10-speed automatic or six-speed manual shifter, per Car and Driver. It has an EPA rating of 16 in the city and 26 on the highway. Ratings of five out of five for transmission, routine handling and emergency handling are listed in Consumer Reports.
