The final round of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans was suspended for more than an hour and a half due to weather.
The PGA Tour announced the suspension at 3:42 p.m. ET due to inclement weather. The tournament is played at TPC Louisiana in Avondale, Louisiana, southwest of New Orleans, and lighting was detected in the area, resulting in the suspension. Sunday’s forecast called for a chance of isolated thunderstorms with 20% chance of rain in the afternoon.
Officials announced play would be resumed at 5:15 p.m. ET.
It is the second consecutive day lightning has caused a suspension of play in the tournament. Weather wasn’t the only problem with Sunday’s play either, as the broadcast suffered technical difficulties due to power outages, making it difficult to watch fourth round action.
A longtime tournament, the Zurich Classic is a team event.
The team of Andrew Novak and Benn Griffin are currently on top of the leaderboard at 29-under-par. They just finished the seventh hole and are the last group that teed off on Sunday alongside Jake Knapp and Frankie Capan III, who are in second at 26-under-par.
