Add another name to the list of celebrities who absolutely nailed this year’s Met Gala dress code: Zoe Saldaña. The Oscar winner showed up wearing an incredibly tailored suit dress with stunning details—paired with a cute bob.
This year’s Met Gala theme is “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” inspired by the exhibition of the same name that will—as Vogue put it—”explore the role of sartorial style in forming Black identities, focusing on the emergence, significance, and proliferation of the Black dandy.”
Last year, Zoe wore an ethereal Chloé dress to the Met Gala (the theme was “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion”), which she called “beautifully simple and effortless” in an interview with Elle. She added that the gown made her feel “beautiful in my own skin; safe and comfortable in my body.”
As a reminder (not that you need it!), this has been a major year for Zoe, who just won the Academy Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role. In her speech, she said “My grandmother came to this country in 1961. I am a proud child of immigrant parents with dreams and dignity and hard-working hands, and I am the first American of Dominican origin to accept an Academy Award. And I know I will not be the last. I hope! The fact that I am getting an award for a role where I got to sing and speak in Spanish—my grandmother, if she were here, she would be so delighted. This is for my grandmother, Argentina Cesse.”
