After a seven-year hiatus, milkshakes are back on the menu at Zaxbys nationwide.
The fast-food chain has announced Monday, May 19, the permanent return of milkshakes to celebrate the company’s 35th birthday.
“After years of requests, these beloved treats will be rolling out at all Zaxbys locations throughout the summer to help mark the occasion in the most delicious way,” the company said in a news release.
The chain says their milkshakes are handspun and made with whole milk and real sugar, then topped with real whipped cream, colorful sprinkles and a Maraschino cherry. Customers will be able to choose from four flavors – Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry and Birthday Cake.

Milkshake flavors inspire ‘sweetest memories’, ‘party in a cup’ vibes
According to Zaxbys, the Vanilla, Chocolate, and Strawberry shakes are “inspired by classic, craveable flavors that will transport fans back to their sweetest memories,” while the Birthday Cake flavor is a “party in a cup,” infused with flavors of freshly baked cake, buttercream, and French Vanilla.
Additionally, from May 19 through June 1, Zaxbys customers can get half off all hand-spun, made-to-order milkshakes, the company said.
The milkshakes made a limited return earlier this year, as they were made available exclusively at 20 locations in Macon, Georgia. Visit Macon teamed up with Zaxbys for an “exclusive market test” that invited visitors and locals alike to “crave more of Macon’s sweet secrets,” according to a news release from February. They were also reportedly available at some restaurants in the Atlanta area in October 2024.
The Athens, Georgia-based chain currently has over 940 locations in 17 states.
