Zara Tindall had a special supporter at her equestrian competition this weekend: her 11-year-old daughter, Mia!

On Aug. 9, King Charles’ niece participated in the NAF Five Star International Hartpury Horse Trials in Gloucester and had an adorable cheerleader in one of her children.

Zara, 44, and her husband, Mike Tindall, share three kids — daughters Mia, 11, and Lena, 7, and son Lucas, 4 — and their eldest seemed to take a keen interest in the equestrian event.

Cameras captured Mia gently petting Zara’s horse, Showtime, on the nose when she was saddled up, emphasizing an enthusiasm Zara exclusively told PEOPLE about previously.

The professional equestrian told PEOPLE in 2023 that she had introduced her three children to the sport, adding that “both my nieces ride, and they’re really into it at the moment,” referencing her brother Peter Phillips’ daughters, Savannah, 14, and Isla, 13.

Prince George and Princess Charlotte have also reportedly taken horseback riding lessons.

Zara, a former Olympian, rode two of her horses at the Hartpury Horse Trials, hopping Showtime (who is nicknamed Cracker) in the CCI4*-S division and riding Class Affair (who is also called Socks) in the British Open Championship.

Hello! magazine reported that Mia closely followed along, monitoring her mother’s performance on the scoreboard.

It was a sporty day out for the mom and daughter, who elsewhere spent time together on the sidelines. Zara and Mia stood next to one another and leaned on a fence, laser-focused on what they were watching!

A passion for horses and riding runs deep in the royal family, and Zara’s mother, Princess Anne, memorably became the first British royal to participate in the Olympics when she saddled up for Team Great Britain in 1976.

The royal family’s late matriarch Queen Elizabeth was also a great horsewoman, and Zara previously told PEOPLE her happiest family memories around horses involve that bond.

“I think just the passion and love for horses that’s been passed down through our family. We’re very lucky to have them in our lives. Being able to do it every day is incredible and it’s such an amazing sport,” Zara exclusively told PEOPLE.
