‘You Think Epstein Was Bad?’: Sean Spicer Warns DOJ Will ‘Piss Off’ MAGA If No Russiagate Indictments Drop

Former White House press secretary Sean Spicer warned Friday on “The Morning Meeting” that President Donald Trump’s base will become outraged if there are no indictments over Russiagate.

The president and Director of National Intelligence (DNI) Tulsi Gabbard have accused former President Barack Obama and his former intelligence officials of treason amid the declassification of documents relating to what she called a “years-long coup” against the president after he defeated former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in 2016. When journalist Mark Halperin asked on his 2WAY platform whether indictments were forthcoming, Spicer expressed uncertainty, but argued that MAGA anger over a lack of indictments would dwarf the backlash due to the Trump administration’s handling of files relating to deceased pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. “I think that the problem that exists on my side right now is there’s a lot of people who are saying, ‘Don’t get us excited if you’re not going to do this.’ And so I’m, you can tell, very fired up about this issue,” Spicer said. “It’s very personal and I want revenge. So you know what? If these guys keep pumping out this stuff and declassifying things and don’t go anywhere — you think Epstein was bad? You’re going to piss off a lot of people if they don’t act.”

“So I think that they’re creating the impression that things will happen. And there better be some kind of follow-up. Because people who dealt with this issue are a hell of a lot more vocal than they are on Epstein,” he continued. “And I think you’re getting a lot of people’s hopes up. So I don’t know yet, but I feel like they have started to create the expectation that there will be something — and people want blood.”

Halperin asked former Democratic strategist Dan Turrentine the same question.

“I think it depends on how desperate they are to fire their base up,” Turrentine said. “If they need to, they’ll turn the dial to 11.”

“This is the point: the base is fired up now. And so they didn’t need to dial — now it’s there … You’ve gotten us pissed off and fired up,” Spicer replied. “So now act.”

Gabbard demanded indictments on “Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo” on July 20.

“There must be indictments. Those responsible, no matter how powerful they are or were at that time, no matter who was involved in creating this treasonous conspiracy against the American people, they all must be held accountable,” she said.

She also wrote in a July 18 X post that she was “turning over all documents to the DOJ [Department of Justice] for criminal referral.”

Trump on July 22 called for his DOJ to target Obama during an Oval Office press conference.

“[H]e’s guilty. This was treason. This was every word you can think of,” the president said. “They tried to steal the election. They tried to obfuscate the election. They did things that nobody’s ever even imagined, even in other countries.”

Obama’s spokesperson Patrick Rodenbush responded on July 22 to the Trump administration’s allegations, calling them “outrageous” and bizarre.”

Trump also said on July 25 that Obama was likely immune from criminal prosecution due to the Supreme Court’s 2024 presidential immunity ruling. However, he noted that the ruling would not cover others who participated in the alleged coup.

“[The ruling] doesn’t help the people around him at all,” the president said.
