Danone U.S. is voluntarily recalling YoCrunch yogurt products, citing “potential presence of plastic pieces” in the packages’ toppers, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced on Tuesday, July 14.
The food and beverage company issued the recall on July 11. The FDA stated that consumers reported the plastic pieces, which poses a risk of choking.
The pieces were described as transparent, with potentially sharp edges, and some were between 7 mm and 25 mm in length.
“The issue is isolated only to the separately packaged topper and does not impact the separately packaged yogurt,” the FDA said in the news release.

According to the FDA, the products were sold at retail stores nationwide and the recall “applies to all flavors and sizes” of YoCrunch products currently in market.
Danone is working on removing the impacted YoCrunch products from retail locations, the FDA said.
