Get ready y’all, because there’s a new marshal in town.

On Wednesday, CBS announced that it had officially ordered a new Yellowstone spinoff starring Luke Grimes as part of its midseason lineup. The series, which is currently titled Y: Marshals, is set following the events of the Yellowstone series finale and will see the 41-year-old actor reprise his role as Kayce Dutton onscreen once again.

However, a lot has changed since viewers last caught up with the youngest Dutton sibling. A logline for the series confirms that Kayce’s rancher days are behind him after he sold off a large portion of the Yellowstone Ranch at the end of the original series. Instead, the loyal cowboy will now be combining his ranch hand skills and Navy SEAL training as the new member of an elite unit of U.S. Marshals.

His new career path will see Kayce and his teammates forced to find a balance between family obligations and their sworn duty, as well as navigating the emotional and psychological pressures of working such a high-pressure job.

Y: Marshals is produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, with series creator Taylor Sheridan attached as an executive producer alongside Grimes, David C. Glasser, John Linson, Art Linson, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, and Bob Yari. Spencer Hudnut will also pull double-duty on the project as both an executive producer and its showrunner.

And, if things work out, the series won’t be the only Yellowstone spinoff arriving on our screens in the near future. In September, Kelly Reilly, aka the Beth Dutton herself, confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that her and Cole Hauser were in talks to star in their own separate show.

“There’s potentially another chapter,” Reilly said at the time. “It’s being talked about now.”

Y: Marshals is set to air Sundays at 9 p.m. on CBS.
