Meghan Markle has no plans to run for public office, but the the door is open for many other projects.
Making her first podcast guest appearance, the Duchess of Sussex spoke with IT Cosmetics CEO Jamie Kern Lima about her work ethic, her morning routine, and what’s next for As Ever.
But when asked if she would ever run for elected office in the United States, the Duchess had an unwavering answer: “No, never. I’m not interested in that.”
That said, the door is open for a possible memoir. Meghan’s first book, a children’s book called The Bench, reached No. 1 on the New York Times bestseller list for children’s picture books after its release in June 2021. The story was inspired by a Father’s Day poem she wrote for Prince Harry.
“I love working in the space of hospitality, home, entertaining, and food—those kinds of tips could be really fun to share,” she said. “Of course, children’s books are great too. People are often curious if I’m going to write a memoir, but I’ve got a lot more life to live before I’m there.”

For her morning routine, Meghan shared that her mornings start early, usually around 6:30 a.m. After getting up, she takes a few quiet moments before her children wake at 7. She gets them dressed, makes breakfast, and prepares their lunch boxes, often including a handwritten note, which she says brings her a lot of joy. If her schedule allows, she handles school drop-off herself, which can keep her busy until 9 a.m. On other days, their longtime nanny helps with the morning routine so Meghan can head straight into meetings.
Meghan also shared a little more about her TV watching habits. “Do you watch the royal shows on TV like The Crown or Bridgerton or any of them?” Kern Lima asked. “I watched Bridgerton. It’s a great show. And I love Shonda Rhimes shows.”
Meghan also gave a preview of what we can expect from As Ever, including that the brand is expanding into new categories. “There’s so much in development,” she said. “It started with what I was making on my stove—sweet offerings—and then extended into what you pair that with.” She hinted that hostess gifts and hospitality items are a major focus for upcoming launches. “It’s all about small gestures and thoughtful details,” she said, teasing that fans can expect limited-edition “jam drops” in different flavors soon.
“I’m happy, and the kids are healthy, and [Prince Harry] is great,” Meghan said,“ That that’s the stuff that fills my cup. But I’m trying to also enjoy these big wins right now.”
The first eight products for As Ever—including raspberry spread, crepe mix, and three different types of teas—sold out nearly immediately when it launched at the beginning of April. The limited edition wildflower honey was gone in just five minutes.
As Ever products, particularly the jams and flower sprinkles, featured prominently in Meghan’s Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, this spring. The show, which debuted in March, has already been renewed for a second season.
