The Sopranos star Joe Pantoliano is apparently eyeing a move outside the United States, perhaps sooner than later.
“I’m so uncomfortable with the nature of what’s happening in our country, and I just want to run for the hills, Pantoliano, 73, told Page Six while attending the premiere of Tucci in Italy on Wednesday, April 30.
“It’s hard for me to think about people’s bulls*** like making a TV show,” he explained. “The world is on fire, it’s hard for me to concentrate.”
The actor added that a recent trip to Portugal with his wife planted the idea. “We just got back,” he said. “We really love it there.”
Pantoliano also revealed that he keeps a lot of cash on hand in case an impromptu, last-minute move has to be made — or if he ever ends up stranded at home.

“I keep a lot of cash at home, not a lot but enough to get me going for a couple of weeks,” he said.
Pantoliano, who is best known for his role as Ralph Cifaretto on the HBO crime drama, has been married to Nancy Sheppard since February 1994. They have four children.
The actor would join a growing list of stars who have decamped from the U.S. overseas in recent years. The list includes Ellen DeGeneres and her wife Portia de Rossi, who moved to the United Kingdom in 2024. The pair moved to the Cotswolds to maintain a degree of anonymity.
“People know who she is but the thing about the Cotswolds is no one gives a f— if you’re Kate Moss or the farmer’s wife,” a source close to the couple told Us Weekly.
While DeGeneres and de Rossi didn’t instantly announce their relocation, other celebrities have been much more vocal about their U.S. exit and the reasons behind them. Richard Gere pointed to his wife’s heritage as his reason to move to Spain, while Rosie O’Donnell headed to Ireland in 2025 after President Donald Trump was elected to the White House and began his second term.
“We chose Ireland and didn’t really know where to go,” O’Donnell exclusively told Us Weekly of her new home country while discussing her Hulu documentary special Unleashing Hope: The Power of Service Dogs for Children With Autism. “And someone said Dalkey and I found a house online that was in Glengarry. But when the people who were helping us move in went there, there was mold in it.”
