One half of the Biebers missed out on fashion’s biggest night.
While Hailey Bieber made her grand arrival to the 2025 Met Gala, her husband, Justin Bieber, was totally absent from the event. The couple haven’t attended the Met Gala together in four years; the last time they made a joint appearance was in 2021, when Hailey wore a black floor-length gown from Saint Laurent and Justin wore a black oversize suit. Hailey’s last Met Gala appearance occurred the following year, when she ascended the iconic carpeted steps solo in yet another Saint Laurent creation.
It’s not out of the ordinary for Justin to skip the Met Gala. Recent social media activity also seems to indicate that the singer is simply enjoying a boys’ trip—far away from the glitz and glam of New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Today on Instagram, Justin has been sharing a series of photos and videos that show him and an entourage of friends hanging out in a seemingly remote and mountainous region. He has also posted clips of himself playing golf, although it’s unclear if those clips are from the same location. Captioning a video of a mountain lake view on the social media platform, Justin wrote this morning, “Best trip of my life.”

The dress code for this year’s Met Gala is “Tailored for You,” which is derived from the Costume Institute’s exhibition theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” The Institute developed the theme by taking inspiration from Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity, a 2009 book by Barnard College professor Monica L. Miller.
“I feel that the show itself marks a really important step in our commitment to diversifying our exhibitions and collections, as well as redressing some of the historical biases within our curatorial practice,” head curator Andrew Bolton said. “It’s very much about making fashion at the Met more of a gateway to access and inclusivity.”
This is the first exhibition since 2003 that will be solely focused on menswear. Appropriately, Pharrell Williams, Colman Domingo, A$AP Rocky, and Lewis Hamilton have been appointed as co-chairs.
