Fashion’s new must-have accessory is slim, metallic, and smaller than a Labubu—but it carries the kind of cachet typically reserved for Birkin bags.
If you live in New York City, you might have already clocked billboards of Claudia Schiffer holding a jumbo version of the item like the season’s most covetable clutch. We’re talking about the newly revamped Chase Sapphire Reserve card, which has re-entered the scene not just as a financial tool, but as a bona fide status symbol.
In a recent dispatch in Line Sheet, Puck’s dishy and addicting fashion memo helmed by Lauren Sherman, she described the following scene: “At lunch on Sunday, three of us threw down our Chase Sapphire Reserve cards and asked, Is there any other choice? Apparently the powers that be over there want fashion people to know the answer is an unequivocal no.”
The campaign, starring Schiffer, was shot by legendary fashion photographer David Sims, cementing the card’s positioning as a luxury good. “The campaign’s styling was deliberately sharp and frames the card the way we’re used to seeing iconic handbags—heroic, intentional, and instantly desirable,” says Leanne Fremar, Chief Brand Officer, JPMorganChase, whose sister, celebrity stylist Leslie Fremar, dressed Schiffer for the images.
Even the design of the card is meant to mimic features of luxury goods. “From the brushed metal finish to its distinct weight, it was crafted taking many cues from luxury hardware,” Fremar adds.
Every luxury brand promises to be about a lifestyle more than just outfitting a life. More than any It-bag could, the Chase Sapphire Reserve delivers on this. Offering over $2,700 in annual cardmember value, including a $500 credit at The Edit—Chase’s curated hotel collection—and a $300 dining credit, the card functions almost as a pocket-sized concierge. Other highlights include priority access to culty Sapphire Lounges in major airports, a $300 StubHub credit for securing seats to shows, 3x to 8x points on travel and dining, Peloton perks, Lyft credits, and Apple Music and TV+ subscriptions included.
