Simon Helberg is willing to go the distance (literally) for his relationship.
The actor, who’s most famous for playing Howard Wolowitz in The Big Bang Theory from 2007 to 2019, has been married to his wife, Jocelyn Towne, since 2007, but it wasn’t always smooth sailing. After breaking up, Helberg traveled to France, where Towne has citizenship, to get her back, before proposing to her once they were back in the U.S. together.
Since then, Helberg and Towne have welcomed two children, daughter Adeline and son Wilder.
Though Towne comes from a Hollywood family — including her uncle, Oscar-winning director and screenwriter Robert Towne — she leads a private life with Helberg and their children, keeping them out of the public eye.
However, she has worked with Helberg on a few projects. He starred in the 2013 drama I Am I, which she wrote and directed, while they co-directed the 2014 romantic comedy We’ll Never Have Paris, which was based on their breakup and reconciliation in the French capital.
So who is Simon Helberg’s wife? Here’s everything to know about Jocelyn Towne and her relationship with The Big Bang Theory star.

Towne was born in California on Aug. 8, 1976, to an American father and a French mother. She eventually also became a French citizen in 2013.
The producer comes from a family of artists. Her father, Roger Towne, was a screenwriter, while her uncle was the Oscar-winning director and screenwriter of Chinatown, Robert Towne. Her brother, Nick Towne, is a writer who has worked on Deadwood, and her cousin is Katharine Towne, who starred in Mulholland Drive.

Towne has had a number of roles in Hollywood, including as an actress in an episode of Gilmore Girls and the 2011 romantic drama A Bird of the Air.
She’s also had writing and directing roles, telling Media Mikes in a 2011 interview that she always had a “love hate relationship” with writing but was passionate about making movies in all capacities.
“I love being able to tell a story,” she said. “I had always wanted to be an actor and I have been doing it since high school.”

Before Helberg proposed to Towne, he broke up with her. During a 2014 appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman, Helberg reflected on how he realized he’d made a big mistake.
“I freaked out, I thought I had feelings for other people, I thought that I needed more of an exciting life,” he said. “I had the perfect thing but for whatever reason … It was an exercise in self-destruction.”
After the breakup, Towne moved to Paris and began dating someone else. Helberg then traveled to France to try and win her back, revealing on The Queen Latifah Show in 2015 that he had to stay in the house Towne’s boyfriend lived in for a while.
“It was this whole absurd story and throughout it I had compulsively confessed things that I had done, or thought,” Helberg told Interview Magazine in 2015. “It was horrible and it climaxed with an even more pitiful proposal.”
The couple eventually got married in July 2007.

Towne and Helberg welcomed their first child, daughter Adeline, on May 8, 2012, followed by their son Wilder on April 23, 2014.
While the couple largely choose to keep their children out of the public eye, Helberg did open up about how he was disciplining his then-toddlers in an interview with PEOPLE in 2016.
“I can lay down the law a little bit with my kids,” he joked. “They’re very small — they’re the only people that I’m bigger than. It’s fun to throw my weight around.”

Towne and Helberg co-directed the romantic comedy We’ll Never Have Paris based on their own experience of breaking up and reconciling.
“I told Jocelyn, ‘All these people think I should make this movie and they want to be a part of it,’ and she was like, ‘Are you kidding me? I haven’t even told my parents this story yet because it’s that embarrassing,’ ” Helberg told Interview Magazine.
He continued, “There’s a lot of stuff that I expanded on and fictionalized to make it a good movie. But it felt cathartic and it was definitely an unusual circumstance to relive these emotionally awful, draining, embarrassing moments that we went through.”
The couple also worked on the movie I Am I together, with Townes writing and directing and both starring in it.
“As lead actor, Simon was on set almost every day,” she told Script Magazine in 2011. “Before each shot, I’d tell him what I was looking for in the scene. He was my eyes.”
